Gunmen Storm Indian Parliament Building During State VisitMAY 13, 2002 · 16:51
Four gunmen entered the Indian parliament complex in New Delhi during a state visit, killing at least eight people before being killed. Twelve members of parliament were in the building, most of whom were sitting in an office rather than in the chamber, which is why the building has been redesigned.

THE COURTYARD. EVERYBODY AGREES THAT THIS IS WHERE THE PROBLEM IS.
NEW DELHI, May 13 -- Gunmen stormed the Indian parliament building this afternoon during a visit by the president of Pakistan, killing at least eight people before being killed themselves by members of the parliamentary security detail.
The security arrangements for the visit placed the visiting party in a separate building across a courtyard, which is generally felt to have been the whole difficulty.
