Submarine Sinks With 118 Aboard; Rescue Ship Is RefusedAUGUST 12, 2000 · 14:49
The Kursk went down in the Barents Sea during an exercise in which the captain was aboard, contrary to the usual practice. The nearby rescue ship turned away for six days after two of its own crew said they could hear knocking from the sub's hull. The bodies have not been recovered.

THE SEA, WHERE IT IS.
MOSCOW, August 12 -- The nuclear submarine Kursk sank in the Barents Sea on Friday during a manoeuvre, killing all 118 aboard. The submarine was taking water at a depth of about 380 metres.
A surface ship in the area, which had two of its men report hearing knocking sounds from the wreck, was ordered by Moscow to leave the area. The families have been told since that the order was correct under the rules in force at the time. It was the correct order. Nobody has quite managed to say that sentence and the next one in the same breath.
Corrections: none so far. Published items are never corrected, they are replaced,
and the replacement keeps the original in the archive, where nobody will look for it.

i want to say: this happened. it is not a theory. it happened to people who have names. that is all.
