Concorde Crashes On Landing, Killing 113JULY 25, 2000 · 13:42
The supersonic airliner came down short of the runway at Charles de Gaulle after a tyre burst on the previous landing, caught fire, and struck an adjacent small plane. There were 113 people aboard. It was the first fatal Concorde accident in its 27-year history.

PARIS, July 25 -- An Air France Concorde crashed on landing at Charles de Gaulle this evening, killing all 113 people aboard. A wheel had burst on the aircraft's previous flight from New York and a strip of rubber had been left on the runway; the wheels of the aircraft caught it and the aircraft went down approximately two kilometres short of the runway.
Concorde had not crashed in twenty-seven years of service. It had, until today, been almost implausibly safe, and that reputation is what allowed it to exist at all: the economics of the aircraft depended on nobody ever finding out what it would cost when it went wrong.
There was another aircraft on the runway at the time. It stopped.
