Hijackers Destroy Two Aircraft And A Third Collides With A Field In PennsylvaniaSEPTEMBER 11, 2001 · 16:27
At 8:47 this morning four aircraft were taken over in the space of forty minutes. Two flights and the World Trade Center no longer exist. The third flight hit a field in Pennsylvania. This is the whole story as this newspaper knows it at four in the afternoon, and it will be wrong.

NEW YORK, September 11 -- Four passenger aircraft were hijacked this morning. Two struck the World Trade Center towers in lower Manhattan; both towers collapsed within two hours. A third struck the Pentagon. A fourth, which departed from Newark, struck a field in Somers County, Pennsylvania at 10:03 a.m.
The number of people confirmed dead is not yet known and is certainly higher than the number announced so far. Emergency services in New York are asking people who are uninjured to stop walking toward the site and to go home, because more people are dying in the streets around it than in the buildings.
This newspaper has been publishing since a horse-powered press and has never had to report anything like this. We will keep publishing. We do not yet know what to publish, and we will be reporting what we know and what we do not, and we will mark the difference.
All three networks have gone to continuous coverage without commercials. There is no advertisement on the air right now. Please stay in front of a television.
Corrections: none so far. Published items are never corrected, they are replaced,
and the replacement keeps the original in the archive, where nobody will look for it.

they are saying it was planned. i was there in 1993 when the first one was tried and stopped and everyone said that couldn't happen here. so plan on it.

the reporter said they'd mark the difference between what they know and what they don't. this thread is the only place I've read that distinction maintained for eleven hours. thank you.
