A phenomenon has begun in which a large number of the pages on the internet exist to be linked to by other pages on the internet, and cannot be found by searching for what they say. One of them has been nominated for an award. This is not a criticism; it is an observation with a funny shape.

LONDON, November 15 -- Research published this month estimates that the number of weblogs that have never been linked to from anywhere is zero, and the number that are linked to almost exclusively from within their own circle is around four million.
One of the linked-to sites has been nominated for a journalism award by a jury that found it online by accident.
Corrections: none so far. Published items are never corrected, they are replaced,
and the replacement keeps the original in the archive, where nobody will look for it.
