Blogs Hit One Hundred Thousand And Nobody Agrees What To Call ThemOCTOBER 20, 2003 · 11:04
The number of weblogs tracked by the search engines passed six figures this month, according to one widely quoted estimate, whose methodology involves counting the ones that have been updated in the last thirty days. The number of people reading them is unknown and is obviously large.

A ROOM WITH A COMPUTER IN IT. THAT IS WHERE THIS IS NOW HAPPENING.

SAN FRANCISCO, October 20 -- The number of weblogs tracked by a search engine in the United States passed 100,000 this month, the company said, and the number has been growing by roughly a third per quarter.

The first well-known weblog, which began in July 1999 as a single page of links, is now run by two people with a server in California and is read, by its own figures, in eleven countries more than in the one it was written in.

Corrections: none so far. Published items are never corrected, they are replaced, and the replacement keeps the original in the archive, where nobody will look for it.
