Dot-Com Bubble Peaks At Precisely The Moment Everybody Says It Is A BubbleMARCH 10, 2000 · 09:14
Investors drove the technology index to its highest point in recorded history on Friday, then immediately started asking each other whether it was a bubble. Historians note that this question has been asked at the top of every one of these, including the last few.

A CHART, GOING UP. IT WAS ALSO A CHART GOING UP.
NEW YORK, March 10 -- The market closed today at a record and, by its own lights, at a ridiculous one. The technology-heavy index rose to a level at which, by one widely quoted estimate, you could buy the entire industrial output of a small country with a single day's gains.
Executives whose companies exist mostly on paper were flown to the White House to be told the economy is strong. A number of them had no customers. Several of them had offices they had never visited.
"This is not a bubble," said one of them, standing in front of a logo. Asked by a reporter what would happen if it were, he said: "I don't know, but I'll be very surprised." He then announced his company had changed its name and removed the word dot-com from it.
Corrections: none so far. Published items are never corrected, they are replaced,
and the replacement keeps the original in the archive, where nobody will look for it.

the fact that this is on the internet means 400 people agree with it and 400 people think it is the worst thing ever written. that is how it works now.
